We Have Fun!There are many volunteer opportunities for people to enjoy themselves at WHOA! Take a look and see if there's something that interests you.
Volunteer OpportunitiesWhat makes a successful WHOA volunteer? Reliability, flexibility and a desire to learn and help others. No previous experience with horses or disabled individuals is necessary to become a volunteer. WHOA does ask that volunteers be over the age of 14 and that new volunteers attend Volunteer Training to become acquainted with the program, horses, staff and their volunteer position.
SidewalkersSidewalkers help ensure the safety of the rider. At times, this means providing physical support to the rider. Sidewalkers usually walk or jog along the equestrian as a safety measure. As a result, we are always looking for people who are willing to learn the needs of disabled equestrians. Sidewalkers enjoy interaction with students and see their progress firsthand!
LeadersLeaders prepare the horse for class and lead the animal in the class arena. Previous horse experience is necessary. Leaders attend special training to learn about horses, tack and the facility.
