How You Can Help WHOA

Individuals with just about any disability benefit from WHOA activities WHOA activities improve both physical and social skills Equine Assisted Activities improve cognitive and emotional functioning

White Oaks is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization located in Rock Falls, Illinois that offers equine assisted activities to individuals with special needs.

The following are ways you can help:

Financial Contribution

  • Make a tax-deductible financial donation
  • Sponsor a rider
  • Sponsor a horse
  • Donate a horse, tack or equipment

Birdies for Charity

Chip in for WHOA during the John Deere Classic Golf Tournament. Pledge one cent or more per birdie scored during the tournament and WHOA will receive the donation from the program. You can also enter their contest by guessing the total number of birdies scored during the tournament. For more information and to print an official pledge form, go to the Birdies for Charity website. Please be sure to write "White Oaks" and our Bird Number "693" at the top of the pledge form, then mail to Birdies for Charity, 15623 Coaltown Rd, East Moline, IL 61244. Thanks for "chipping in" and good luck in the contest!

In Kind Contribution

WHOA graciously accepts new or gently used items, including the following:

  • Rainbow reins
  • Grooming tools
  • English bridles
  • English saddles
  • Girth
  • Halters
  • Lead ropes
  • Plastic water & feed buckets
  • Saddle pads
  • Snaffle bits
  • Therapeutic riding surcingle
  • Arthrosooth

Horse Donation

If you would like WHOA to consider your horse for use in the program, please contact the Executive Director for more information on our acceptance procedure. In general, we adhere to the following guidelines when accepting a horse into the program:

  • Complete health and soundness exam completed by a veterinarian
  • Full, written health record
  • Two to four week trial period to determine if the horse will fit easily into our program

Periodic conditioning and exercising is completed by experienced riders to maintain our horses' quality of movement and desirable disposition. Our horses are well cared for and handled with kindness.
