White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian CenterWhite Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center (WHOA) offers therapeutic horseback riding and animal-assisted activities as well as other related services for children and adults with disabilities.
"With reins in my fingers and stirrups beneath my toes, when I ride . . . my ability is all that shows." --Banbury Cross White Oaks is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, established in 1995 for the purpose of providing recreational, educational, therapeutic, and social opportunities for persons with disabilities. WHOA programs improve physical capabilities and functional skills as well as furnish students the opportunity of added leisure time, physical activity and social interaction. Therapeutic riding is made possible through the assistance of dedicated, trained volunteers who help with horses and riders, stable maintenance, special events and fundraising. White Oaks provides, but is not limited to, programs for people, ages four through adult, who are physically and mentally challenged. Basic instruction is given in grooming, tacking, horsemanship, riding and driving skills. Classes include mounted exercise, reinforcement of learning objectives, games, trail riding and a great deal of fun for all involved! Classes begin in January and run through October. Both day and evening hours are available. All classes are taught by certified instructors. Many thanks to Jan Scott Photography for shooting the pictures you see on our website. Winning Wheels is pleased to be both a corporate sponsor of and participant in White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
White Oaks is also a proud recipient of funding from the United Way.
